Let’s Meet!

RGVBF VOLUNTEER PROFILE: MORGAN PATE

Morgan Pate

Morgan Pate

Morgan is a retired social worker, lawyer, artichoke farmer, former expatriate, and a confirmed “foodie.”  She’s lived in Kentucky, on the island of Roatan in Honduras, and in Washington State before moving to San Benito, Texas.   She retired to “The Valley” about a year and a half ago. Although she misses the mushroom gathering in Washington state and the parrots of Honduras, she’s enjoying both the cooking opportunities and native wildlife in her new home.  Most recently, she is challenged by their over-abundant okra crop!

Her husband, Richard, is a superb gardener, and she delights in finding new ways to convert their organic produce into new culinary experiments.  Their tropical-planted yard attracts many local bird specialty species.

Morgan is a new volunteer that will be helping out in our Kiskadee Kordial social hour.  Perhaps some of her produce will end up on your hors d’oeuvre  plate.  Look for her there!

Like the “Let’s Meet!” This will be my first birding festival and I don’t know anyone attending nor do I know what to expect….but I am looking forward to meeting lots of interesting people who share my love of birds and the outdoors!

Joann!
Thanks for reading the RGVBF blog and glad you’re coming down. There will be further Volunteer Profiles posted (except for our Festival President, Danny Hoehne, and myself, Festival Chair – see us on the Home Page), so stay with us. Subscribe in the Update box, if you haven’t already, for alerts. AND – for a ‘family’ of attendees – speakers, leaders, volunteers and participants like yourself (with photos!) – check out the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival Facebook page.
Let us know if you have any questions.
Looking forward to November – great birds, trips, talks, events. We’re gonna have fun.
